What the numbers mean
Documented species counts reflect records that reached our sources. Sampling effort is uneven between countries, so a low count can mean a data gap rather than few bees.
Evidence types
Expert checklist
Listed for this country in an expert-curated checklist, without a matching cleaned occurrence record in this release.
Cleaned occurrence records
Supported by cleaned specimen or observation records. Checklist overlap cannot be recovered from the published union.
Checklist and occurrence records
Supported by both an expert checklist and cleaned occurrence records.
A small number of records are flagged for manual review — for example honey bee records in polar areas, which usually reflect managed colonies, research stations or geocoding artefacts rather than established wild fauna. Those records stay visible and stay labelled.
